The Wrestler

What up peoples, I just saw this movie and it’s a must see.  Sure, wrestling is the backdrop to this screenplay, but it is Mickey Rourke’s portrayal of a washed up 80′s pro wrestler who struggles to find himself as a person and a professional that underlines this film.

If you are a fan of pro wrestling, the movie is built for the hardcore purest at heart.  There are certain scenes that many marks will get right away and enjoy.

The Wrestler presents an ugly element and example of how wrestlers who don’t save their money, who did drugs and don’t know when to hang it up, suffer in the long run physically and emotionally.

It’s also a great movie because Marissa Tomei plays a stripper and she’s balllllllllin’ at age 44!

You also get to see an emotional story of between a dead beat father who tries to rekindle his daughter’s love and respect in a great performance by Evan Rachel Wood.

Ultimately this was a great movie which gained critical acclaim at the 2008 Toronto International Film Festival and is sure to earn more at the 2009 Golden Globes and Oscar Awards shows.
