Drake ft. Lil’ Wayne - Ransom

If you guys are not familiar with this rapper named Drake, he’s been on the underground circuit for a long minute.  This Torontonian might be best known as the wheelchair character Jimmy Brooks on Degrassi: The Next Generation…But anybody that knows the Canadian rap game he’s probably one of the top 5 rising MC’s north of the border.

I hit up his peoples today and to clarify the rumors, he is not signed to Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money imprint.  I don’t really show too much love for Canadian MC’s in general, because the music market there doesn’t give them a platform to grow and progress in terms of visibilty, marketing and promotions.  But this Drake dude is the truth, with an impressive following with like half a gazillion hits on his MySpace page.

I remember seeing him somewhere outside a club 2 years ago…I was gonna say what up and tell him I love watching Degrassi (lol)…Little did I know he was that same rapper behind the underground smash titled ‘The City Is Mine’…’Ransom’ was produced by Boi-1da, who can be heard on Kardinal Offishall’s ‘Set It Off’ record featuring the Clipse.
