An exclusive The3XGP.com interview with Swagg Team Entertainment/Block Ent./Jive Records entertainment group Hot Stylz. The Chicago natives discuss their hit single “Lookin’ Boy” featuring Yung Joc, the definition of a “Lookin’ Boy”, how they hooked up with Yung Joc and R. Kelly, a message to the haters labeling them the new D4L, the difference between a rapper (such as Rakim, KRS-One, and Young Jeezy) and an entertainer, and their new album “Yo Mama Got A Mustache” dropping summer 2008!

DJ Glew: What’s going on everyone! This is DJ Glew representing The3XGP.com. I’m here today with the entertainment group Hot Stylz, who are signed to Yung Joc’s new label “Swagg Team Entertainment”. And have the hit single titled “Lookin’ Boy” climbing the billboard charts. What’s going on guys?

Hot Stylz: Aw man, everything good man.

DJ Glew: Alright, let’s kick off this interview talking about your hit single “Lookin’ Boy”. For those who don’t know, what is a “Lookin’ Boy”?

Hot Stylz: A “Lookin’ boy” is kind of like an insult, but a fun insult. A phrase you play around with. We also got “Lookin’ Girl” for the ladies.

DJ Glew: Is that the new remix coming out?

Hot Stylz: It’s actually already a premix I want to say, not a remix. R. Kelly is doing the “Lookin’ Girl”.

DJ Glew: We heard the R. Kelly joint and we know Yung Joc is on the original. How did you guys hook up with them?

Hot Stylz: Yung Joc actually contacted us. We had a situation in which we had a dirty version but we didn’t have a clean version to show the world, so Yung Joc contacted us via Myspace. We went down to Atlanta and the rest is history from there.

DJ Glew: What about R. Kelly?

Hot Stylz: R. Kelly is actually a label mate of ours, also a Chicago native. So we hooked up with R. Kelly because we shared similar views on the song. He thought the song was dope and it happened.

DJ Glew: You mention you guys are from Chicago. For myself, I found that surprising because your sound is very much southern to me. What made Hot Stylz decide to go southern?

Hot Stylz: Well you know what, I wouldn’t say its the southern route but there’s a lot of similarities with the Chicago sound and also the down south sound so sometimes people get confused. But pretty much the whole style on the “Lookin’ Boy” song is apparent in Chicago music. So we just took that and ran with it.

DJ Glew: What do you have to say to all the haters out their saying that “Lookin’ Boy” is a one hit wonder, the new “Laffy Taffy”?

Hot Stylz: In the words of Yung Joc, “Hell-naw-you-gets-no-love-lookin-boy”!

DJ Glew: You guys brand yourselves as “entertainers” not rappers. Can you touch on that?

Hot Stylz: Yeah exactly, the whole thing about being entertainers not rappers comes from us doing all types of things besides rapping. Like I look at pioneers like Rakim and KRS-One, a lot of those cats man are rappers. Like Young Jeezy is a rapper. But when it comes down to Hot Stylz we just entertainers. We do everything! There may come to a point where you catch Hot Stylz doing a sky diving act or something crazy, you know what I’m saying. But at the same time, our fans are going to enjoy it, so that’s why we say we’re entertainers at the end of the day.

DJ Glew: Let’s talk about the new Hot Stylz album titled “Yo Mama Got A Mustache” dropping this summer. What can we expect from this album and who are some of the featured artists and producers? Any info you can give us?

Hot Stylz: Okay yeah sure, without giving you too much though, we’re working with a lot of people in the studio. Like you said the title is “Yo Mama Got A Mustache” and it’s kind of like a concept album in which we’re taking that phrase and building off it for the whole LP. A lot of the tracks are going to be catching on fire, we got the Chicago people we working with such as Crucial Conflict. We got Lloyd and Pleasure P from Pretty Ricky and a couple more people we’re working with. As far as producing, we actually do a lot of the producing ourselves and were working with a producer called Wishmaster out of St. Louis.

DJ Glew: Okay, any info you can give us on the second single?

Hot Stylz: Sure, you know we hate to think of it as a single. Right now we’re looking beyond a single. I’d like to say we’re releasing a triple. You got “Yo Mama Got A Mustache” that is circulating around the internet. I don’t know how, but it’s circulating around the internet. You also got the song “Mote Control”, not remote control, but mote control. And you got another track called “Terrett Syndrome” so between those three you just going be hearing those three all over. That’s all I can say right now about the quote unquote single coming from Hot Stylz.

DJ Glew: Well that’s about it! Make sure you vote Hot Stylz’ new single “Lookin’ Boy” featuring Yung Joc on 106th & Park and pick up their new album titled “Yo Mama Got A Mustache” coming soon. You guys want to give shout outs and let the people know how they can stay updated on everything Hot Stylz!

Hot Stylz: Aw man, you can always check us out on MySpace. We check all our own messages. There ain’t no frontin’. We ain’t got nobody logging into our account, everything genuine! And that’s myspace.com/hotstylzmusic and if you don’t know how to spell music, i’m not even going to try. Chuch!
